of the local sites that are rich in the regional culture and history of
the local Matagorda and Brazoria counties. From the local museums to
rodeos to festivals, there are many activities that are within close
proximity to the Park and worth your consideration.

Sunken Treasure
Sargent is also home to several historical war
relics if one knows where to look. There is a
sunken German U-boat located a short distance
from the beach in protected waters.
Additionally, in June, there is an annual
inspection of a Civil War era Steamship located
in Caney Creek near Sargent. |

10) and the Bay City Rice Festival are both
popular events you will not want to miss if you

Bay City Museum
The Bay City museum gives guests some great
insight to the local culture and rich history of
this part of Texas. The museum also offers an
excellent children's section which gives the
youngsters a close up view of Bay City in its
early days. |
