Activities
|
Whether it is assisting with the arrangements for a successful fishing
trip (often times with the owners themselves) or getting together for a
fish fry afterwards, our aim is to help you enjoy your time spent at
Caney Creek. Sargent offers a multitude of activities for your
enjoyment. From the VFW bingo held every Saturday night, to the
shuffleboard tournaments, to live music at several of the local
watering holes, and including numerous fishing tournaments, the folks
in this part of Texas know how to enjoy themselves. The area also
offers a variety of seasonal activities that are worth your
consideration. The VFW has a great turkey shoot competition in
September and the Christmas boat parade during the holidays is always a
big hit with the locals and their guests. This region of Texas is also
well known for its bird population, located adjacent to the San Bernard
Wildlife Refuge.

Fishing the Rigs
For the more adventurous types, fishing the Gulf can be very successful from the Sargent area, with the first offshore rig located a short 7 miles from the intercoastal and numerous rigs in close proximity. The Snapper catch can be well worth the trip. |

Beach Nearby
The Sargent beach is a great place to spend those
hot summer days. Whether you are just kicking
back or surf fishing, crowds are seldom a worry
on the beach. |

Rivers & Fun
Wet and wild is probably the best description of
the fun had on the Texas Intercoastal Waterway
with a wave runner. |

Nice Specs
Fishing tournaments are a common occurrence in
this region, but with or without a tournament, East Matagorda bay is a great spot to catch some nice speckled trout. |
